5 Row Non-Elevated Bleachers (NB0515, NB0521)
Important Notice
These bleachers have been designed and manufactured to meet most National
Building and Fire Safety Codes.  However, since local codes may vary, the
purchaser of the product must be responsible for compliance with any local or
state codes pertaining to this product.  The manufacturer, distributor, or any of
their representatives will assume no liability for code compliance.
Surface Preparation
These bleachers should be installed on a smooth, level surface.  A concrete pad
or footers may be used.  Also, you may elect to attach treated lumber groundsills.
Groundsills should be at least 2 x 6 lumber and attached to bottom of frames with
3/8” x 1 1/2” lag screws (not provided).  Some local codes may require that
bleachers be anchored to concrete to meet wind load requirements.
Assembly of Bleachers
1. Lay out all parts and hardware.  Read all instructions before starting assembly.
2. Assemble cross braces.  Depending on the model you purchased, you may
have three different length of cross braces.  Refer to the framing plan (Fig. 1), to
determine the placement and length of the crossbars.  Place pieces together, flat
side to flat side, and bolt through the center hole using the 3/8” x 1 1/2” hex bolt
and nyloc nut.
3. Attach cross braces to the leg frames.  Again, refer to Figure 1 for the placement
of the braces.  Attach using the 3/8” x 1 1/2” hex bolt and 3/8” flat washer, lock
washer and hex nut in the pre-punched holes in the leg frames.  Check frame for
squareness and tighten all bolts and nuts.
4. Next, install the 5/16” x 1 1/4” carriage bolt, hold down clip, flat washer, lock
washer and hex nut in the leg frame.  NOTE:  Some rows will have 2’ planks.
Refer to Figure 2 for placement.  The braces in the frame for the foot planks are
punched alike.  You will not use all holes.  See Figure 1 for the hole pattern for
single and double plank.
5. Install the riser tabs to the vertical upright angle on rows 4 & 5, by using a 5/16”
x 1” hex bolt, flat washer, lock washer and nut.  Be sure tab is parallel to the
upright before tightening.
6. Now install the planks.  We have found it easier to start with the foot planks
first.  Start with the bottom row.  Be sure the overhang of each plank is equal
(approx. 17”).  Now position hold down clops as shown in Figure 2 – Detail A, and
tighten to secure plank in place.  Continue until you have installed all foot planks
and seat planks.
7. Install the 2 riser planks.  See Figure 2 – Detail B.

Side Wing Assembly – Left Side (Refer to Figure 3)
1. Lay out parts for wings as shown in Figure 3.
2. Start with tube #1.  Slide 3 tension bands on the tube as shown.  See Figure 3 – Detail A.
3. Now place the 90˚ elbows on each end and tighten.  Be sure they are facing in the same
direction and are pushed all the way down on the tube.
4. Place 1 tension band on each of tubes #3 and #4.  Insert tubes into the 90˚ elbows and
tighten.
5. Assemble tube #2, placing 6 tension bands and a straight tee in the position shown.
Do not tighten straight tee.
6.n Now place 3-way tee and adjustable elbow on tube #2 as shown.  Note: The position
of the 3-way tee will determine right wing or left wing.
7. Connect the tube #2 assembly to the rest of the frame by sliding the 3-way tee and the
adjustable elbow over tube #3 and tube #4.  Tighten all fittings.

(Side Wing Assembly on Right Side:  Follow this procedure to assemble
the right wing.  This time reverse/flip over the tension bands and the 3-
way tee.)
Side Wing Assembly – Installing Chain Link Material (Refer to figure 4)
Unroll the 12’ roll of material (48” width) and measure off 6’.  Unbend the tip of a vertical weave and
remove the wire from the roll.  This is an extra step but will be much to handle when covering the
wing frames.
Insert the tension bar into one end of the chain link material.  Attach the square end by sliding the
tension bar into the tension bands and securing with the 5/16 x 1 1/4” galvanized bolt and nut.  Be
sure to install so bolt is facing away from the seating area.
Now stretch the chain link material to the angled end of the frame.  Place a tension bar in the
material so it parallels the end tube and has a space of approximately 3/4” from the tube.  Note that
the tension band will have to be placed in the material on a base.  Once the tension bar is in
position, remove the excess chain link material by cutting every other wire and bending the wire
around the tension bar.
Stretch the material and tension bar into the brace bands and bolt securely.
Secure the chain link material to the top and bottom tube by using the 10 1/2” aluminum wire ties.
Assembly of Back Guard Rail Post (Refer to Figure 5)
Bolt the rear guard rail posts to the rear riser as shown in figure 5 by using the bolts,
washers, and nuts shown.  The 15’ bleacher will have 3 posts and the 21’ bleacher
will have 4 posts.
Assembly of Side Guard Rail Post (Left & Right) (Refer to Figure 6)
Locate the left and right side post.
Position one side on bleacher as shown in figure 6.  Once in
position on the planks, mark the location of the holes on the planks.
Drill a 3/8’ hole in the 4 locations that you marked.
Bolt the side post to the planks using the fasteners shown.
INSTALLING SIDE WINGS AND BACK GUARD RAIL TO
BLEACHER (Refer to Figure 7)
Slide Tension Bands onto Rear Guard Rail Tubes. (3 each for 15’
bleacher and 4 each for 21’ bleacher), (See Figure 7, Detail A)
Bolt the Tension Bands to the Rear Guard Rail Posts as shown in Fig.
7.  (Do not tighten at this time)
Place the Side Wing Frame on the bleacher by sliding the 3-Way Tee
over the top guard rail tube (Fig. 8, Detail C)
Now fit the ‘T’ fitting over the lower guard rail tube, (Detail B) &
tighten the set screws in both fittings.
Slide the Tension Band on the top wing tube to the Side Guard Rail
Post and mark. Drill 3/8” diameter hole in the post & attach the
Tension Band (Detail A) with the 5/16” x 1 1/4” galvanized bolts & nuts.
Follow the same procedure & attach the Tension Band on the lower
tube to the side post & bolt in place.
Installing Rear Guard Rail Wire
Unroll the 42” width roll of wire.  The length of the wire will be longer
than you need and will need to be shortened.  Do not shorten until
one end is attached and you know exactly where to shorten.
Weave the tension bar through one end.  Now bolt in place on one
end of the guardrail using the tension band.  Bolt with the 5/16” x 1
1/4” galvanized bolts, washers and nuts.  Be sure bolts are facing
away from the seating area.
With one end now bolted, stretch the wire to the other end.
Determine where the tension bar needs to be placed and weave it
through the wire.
Unbend the top vertical weave and remove that strand of wire to
attain the proper length.
Stretch the wire and bolt this end using the tension bands and
fasteners as on the other end.
Tie the top and bottom of the wire to the guardrail tubes using the
aluminum wire ties.  Space approximately 18” apart.
